Thirds Claim first Win

THE 3RD XI on the other hand showed a vast improvement on the previous outings as they strolled to a 34 run victory over Blaydon at Denefield on Sunday. Despite watching his fellow early order batsman collapse James McCue (above) played with great maturity and assisted by some resistance form Wilf Reeve, Ian Richards finished unbeaten on 43 to see Stockton through to 176. Blaydon looked reasonably in control but lost wickets on a regular basis with Mike Wood claiming three for 28 before Andrew Parr three for 11 and Ian Richards two for 2 finished them off 34 runs short of the target.

Stockton 176 (I Richards 43*, J McCue 33)
Blaydon 142 (M J L Wood 3-28, A Parr 3-11, I Richards 2-2)
Stockton won by 34 runs
