ELEVENS TRIUMPH in NEPL FINAL

TWO excellent all round performances by the Under 11s in the finals of the NEPL Under 11 Shield at Chester-le-Street meant victory for Stockton. Having defeated Blaydon in the opening game Stockton were left with a showdown against the hosts Chester-le-Street in the Final. Stockton posted a competive score and although at times the Cestrians looked likely to overhaul their total, some excellent bowling and several vital wickets pegged the hosts back and secured a Stockton victory.

Barnard Castle won by 9 runs

Stockton's first defeat of the campaign came in the form of a strong Barnard Castle team. Barnard  Castle batted first and scored 338 with Danny McWilliam continuing where he left off with figures of 3-0-9-2 and Dave Seymour's 3-0-11-1. In reply things looked to be going well with Danny McWilliam scoring 12 and Tom Bulmer 9. With the final pair walking to the crease needing just 17 runs to win, the Teessiders looked good for the victory. However, some excellent bowling from the Castle secured victory by just 9 runs.

Stockton won by 85 runs

Stockton under 11s  started the season in impressive form by demolishing one of the seasons new boys, Newton Aycliffe. A 200 run deafeat of Aycliffe at Grangefield somewhat flattered us. Danny McWilliam's start to the season couldn't have been better, scoring 37 N.O. in 4 overs. Danny's efforts were backed up by skipper Tom Coulthard's 23 N.O. Stockton went on to reach 329.As the sides swopped to their opposite disciplines, Danny McWilliam once again impressed with 2-1-1-1.Tom Bulmer's awesome spell of 3-3-0-4 followed up by Dave Seymour and Tom Coulthards efforts of 2-1-3-2 and 2-1-4-2 respectively ensured Stockton won comprehensively.
