Thirteens lift Premier League Shield
The finals started with us losing the toss to Blaydon, we had to bat! The innings started really well with Johnnie Lee being bowled first ball, a great start!! This brought Adam Nicholson to the wicket, big mistake Blaydon. Addy went on to score 27 retired, well supported by Danny McWilliams with another 27 retired. This brought on Philly Appleton, another retiree on 26 leaving us with 133.
We then gave a performance on how not to bowl!! Only Danny Mc and the two Toms showed anything like. Blaydon managed 102 so we then went onto play South Northumberland. Again we lost the toss and were put into bat, this time we had a solid start with Johnnie Lee and Wilf Reeve giving us 29 on the board before losing a wicket, again Addy came good with 26 retired, his bent bat has worked miracles this season. Danny Mc then hit a superb 27 pushing singles and making the field work, Dave Seymour then appeared and smote the ball to all parts taking Jonathan Edwards lad out in the process!! The innings ended with Stockton on 125. We then had to field and bowl, after several rollicking the boys knew where they stood and had to improve. They certainly listened and went on to take 7 wickets with all bowlers sharing the spoils.

Good Team Performance Sees Under 13s Home
A COMMANDING performance from Stockton, the best team performance this season up to date. Stockton batted first with a debut to Tom Lee batting with his cousin John who promptly ran him out, nice one John! We then took control of the bowling and knocked the ball about in a sensible manner with Dave Seymour hitting 18 not out and Adam (Lanky) Nicholson with his famous warped bat scoring 20 not out. Everyone played well with the bat; John Stewart playing straight again did well along Matty kept the score ticking over. Norton then had to bat against a bowling side on form; Phil Appleton took a bit of stick early doors and gave Norton a bit of a look in only for Matty Lowe to make the breakthrough with the first pair. Wickets kept falling and we ended up with five for not many. Dave Seymour was the man on the night finishing with 1 wicket from 2 overs 2 maidens. A great night and local bragging rights for this year!! Norton will do well next year I am sure under Jules, a great coach.

Barnard Castle vs. Stockton
League
Barnard Castle batted first on a lively track, thank goodness for helmets!! We rattled a few from decent deliveries. Barny could only manage 29 from the bat but we conceded 18 extras from poor bowling when line and length were important, no blame to the wicket keeper from me, we must learn to bowl at the stumps!! Nevertheless Dave Seymour took three for three from his two overs even though one was from possibly his worst ball but they all count. Batting, we did as asked and played sensibly only losing two wickets to a score of 333. Adam Nicholson came up trumps to redeem a bad over with 28 not out. A decent performance on the day against a good up and coming set of lads from Barny, they will be challenging next year. Thanks to John and Dave for a good game.
Scores: Barnard Castle 247 for 6 Gross Net 199
Stockton 333 for 2 Gross Net 317

Stockton vs Yarm
Cup
Yarm batted first on an overcast day, they started brightly with the openers taking Phil Appleton for 14, and then Matty Lowe stepped in taking two wickets with good length balls to even the score up. Luke Hobbs who is a Yarm defector and was taking some verbals made a name for his self in Stockton colours by taking one wicket for one run, the game was taken away from Yarm by a fine three overs from Tom Bulmer who finished with 5 for 10 from three, great stuff. Although we did well enough in the field I still would rate this as our worst performance in the field and should have capitalised on our position, be aware boys!!
We then batted in a fine drizzle and the man on form, Phil Appleton came good again with Adam Nicholson this time in a support role hitting 16 and 8 not out respectively. Luke and Danny continued their good partnership with Danny being unlucky to be bowled; they again contributed 19 to the score. Tom Bulmer continued his bowling form into his batting striking some great fours finishing with 20 not out supported by John Lee who in the end gave Yarm some catching practice and went for 9. Matty Lowe and Dave Seymour continued with the runs and Matty again was not out with 12 and Dave who was caught going for the big one contributing with 13.

Blackhall vs Stockton
Cup
Blackhall batted first, and could not have picked a worse day to have selection problems as our bowling was in parts awesome! Phil Appleton opened and set the trend with two overs two maidens for one wicket, ably supported by Matty Lowe who again is suffering from a wicket point of view. The spell of the day was John Lee who in on over destroyed the Blackhall side taking four wickets in a row and finishing with 3 overs 4 wickets for 2 runs, only deprived of a fifth in the row by a turned down LBW. Brilliant bowling!! Luke Hobbs also grabbed three but alas no hat trick. Stockton then had to bat and we played sensible cricket in the main, still some room to improve though. Danny McWilliams hitting 27 but out twiceand also a great improvement by John Stewart who hit 13 not out, well done John. Adam Nicholson joined in with some big hits even though his bat looks warped to me, finishing with 23 not out. Matty again must be on steak for breakfast as he hit another big score with 18 not out including three fours, keep it up Matty!! Overall a comprehensive win but thanks to Blackhall and Mark Cushlow for playing the game in great spirit.

Wolviston vs Stockton
Cup
Wolviston batted first on a lively track, Phil Appleton opened for Stockton and returned tidy figures of 3 overs 1 maiden 1 wicket for 4 runs. The star of the bowling attack was Sajit, 3 overs 4 wickets 1 maiden for 4 runs. We took some livening up in the field and were quite lethargic to start with coming to life half way through and eventually ending up taking 8 wickets for 38 runs in total.Batting was a bit of a lottery on a wicket that was not predicatble in the least, our opening pair of Tom Coulthard and Luke Hobbs used up there nine lives for the season getting dropped five times by the same person. Matty Lowe again hitting the boundry 6 times in his score of 27 not out, Well Done!! Adam Nicholson and John Lee were the next top scores with 16 and 17 not out respectively.

Newton Aycliffe vs Stockton
Cup
Stockton fielded first and Phil Appleton opened the bowling with Matty Lowe. They performed well conceding only 17 runs, we then had our trump card in the form of Helen Appleton making her U13 debut, she started in fine form taking two wickets finishing with 2 overs, 2 wickets for 6 runs!! Tom Bulmer our young spin wizard ended with 2 for 4 from 3 overs,Well Done!! Some of our bowling was poor as line and length went out the window, room for improvement in that department. With the bat we went on to score a hefty 382 with some great contributions by Dave Seymour and Adam Nicholson scoring 25 and 26 respectively. We lost some poor wickets that on a good day we would not, we will work on some of the small errors in the coming weeks.
Scores: Newton Aycliffe 262 for 5 Gross, Net 222
Stockton 382 for 6 Gross, Net 334.

Sunday 4th June
Stockton batted first and got of to a great start with Danny McWilliams leading the way again with 20 not out, ably supported by Luke Hobbs, a good partnership in the making!! Everybody then chipped in with Wilf Reeve putting on a valuable 21 for once out and Matty Lowe who I think had been eating raw meat the way he smote the ball with 13 not out. A good performance.
Hartlepool then had to face our bowling attack which is getting a reputation! Phil Appleton unleashing them at great speed finished with 2 overs 1 maiden for 3 runs, Luke Hobbs again did well with the ball taking 2 wickets for 9 from his 2 overs. Our trump card spin wise, Tom Bulmer chipped in with a wicket first ball and troubled the batsmen for his spell finishing with 1 wicket for 10 runs. A great performance and a disciplined one on the field, well done to all and particularly Danny.(He knows what I mean).

Stockton vs. Darlington RA
Stockton batted first with Danny McWilliams hitting an unbeaten 24 supported by Phil Appleton giving us a great start of 30 for the first pair. We lost a wicket with Sajit giving the crowd a Stockton version of the dying swan and whilst getting himself run out, the ball was near the boundary at the time!! Dave Seymour continued the big hitting and cost Darlington a ball into the allotments for a big six, followed swiftly by another one, finishing on 23 not out. All the other boys contributed to our total of 367 for 1 gross leaving a net score of
359.
Darlington's turn to bat saw an accomplished bowling display with some great figures from Johnnie Lee 3 overs 3 maidens and 2 wickets. Luke Hobbs also took 3 for 8 leaving Darlington on a total of 258 for 11 gross leaving a net score of 170. Well done boys lets keep it going against Hartlepool, a tough side to beat.

Darlington vs. Stockton
Yet again our bogey ground struck, on an extremly damp wicket Stockton fielded first and restricted Darlington to 261 for 3 Gross, Net 237, some good bowling from Danny McWilliams 2 overs 2 Maidens and 1 wicket apiece for Tom Bulmer, John Lee and Wilf Reeve. We then batted, the opening pair of Danny and Tom put us on the way with a solid 11 then we started to lose wickets through some good bowling and also poor shot selection against a spin attack. Top score with the bat was Adam Nicholson with 16 and once out. Stockton finished with 260 for 7
Gross Net 204. We lost here last year and went on to win the league, lets see if we can repeat it this year!

Sunday 30th April
Newton Aycliffe vs. Stockton
The first game of the season played on a chilly day in April at Aycliffe. This
game saw debuts for three new recruits from Dave Parr's under 11 acadamy and as
usual they did not let the side down, Stockton batted first with steady knocks
from Matty Lowe and Jude Hubbard opening followed by Sajit and Tom Bulmer. From
this base we had the big hitters of Dave Seymour and Adam Nicholson knocking 17
and 21 not out repectively. Stockton finished on a Gross 324 for 1 leaving us
with a nett 316.
Aycliffe's innings started on a high for Matty Lowe taking a wicket with his
first ball, this set the tone for the rest of the boys who have started the
campaign with great figures but it was Sajit who stood out with his first
"Michelle" of his career, finishing with 2 overs 5 wickets for 1 run, Well Done,
I will let him off from not delivering my supplements with the paper!! Aycliffe
finished on a Gross 237 for 14 leaving a nett 125. Great start boys lets keep it
up!!
